Ruth in the Fields of Boaz
Ruth 2:1–4:17 · story film
Ruth went out to glean barley behind the reapers, and she came to the field of Boaz, a kinsman of Naomi’s husband. Boaz was kind to her because of her love for Naomi: he let her glean among the sheaves and told his young men to let fall handfuls on purpose for her. Later Boaz redeemed the family’s land and married Ruth, and their son Obed became the grandfather of King David, from whose family Jesus was born (Matthew 1:5–16).
Big idea: God takes care of those who come to trust under His wings.
Memory verse:
The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
Ruth 2:12 (KJV)Ask: In whose field did Ruth glean? The field of Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech (Ruth 2:3).
Game: Gleaning Relay (about 10 minutes)

The Parable of the Sower
Matthew 13:1–23 · Mark 4:1–20 · Luke 8:4–15 · story film
Jesus told a story about seed that fell on the wayside, on stony places, among thorns and on good ground. Only the seed on good ground brought forth fruit.
Big idea: Let God’s Word grow in a good heart.
Memory verse:
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Luke 8:15 (KJV)Ask: What does the seed stand for? The word of God.
Game: Good Soil Toss (about 10 minutes)

The Mustard Seed
Matthew 13:31–32 · Mark 4:30–32 · Luke 13:18–19 · story film
Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is like a tiny mustard seed. A man sowed it in his field, and it grew into a tree so big that birds came and lodged in its branches.
Big idea: God can grow something great from something small.
Memory verse:
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
Matthew 13:31 (KJV)Ask: What is the kingdom of heaven like? A grain of mustard seed.
Game: Grow, Grow, Grow! (about 8 minutes)

The True Vine
John 15:1–17 · story film
On the night before the cross, Jesus told His disciples that He is the true vine and they are the branches. A branch that stays joined to the vine bears much fruit.
Big idea: We grow good fruit when we stay close to Jesus.
Memory verse:
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
John 15:5 (KJV)Ask: Who is the vine? Jesus.
Game: Vine Line (about 10 minutes)

The Fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:16–26 · story film
Paul wrote to the Galatians that when we walk in the Spirit, God grows good fruit in our lives, like a tree grows fruit.
Big idea: God’s Spirit grows good fruit in us.
Memory verse:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22–23 (KJV)Ask: How many parts of the fruit of the Spirit are listed? Nine.
Game: Fruit of the Spirit Toss (about 10 minutes)

Joseph Saves Egypt
Genesis 41:37–57 · story film
Pharaoh saw that the Spirit of God was in Joseph and set him over all the land of Egypt, with his own ring, fine linen and a gold chain. In the seven years of plenty Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, and when the famine came there was bread in Egypt. Pharaoh told the hungry people, “Go unto Joseph,” and all countries came to Egypt to buy corn.
Big idea: God lifts up the humble and uses them to help many people.
Memory verse:
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
James 4:10 (KJV)Ask: What did Pharaoh say about Joseph? “Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?” (Genesis 41:38).
Game: Go Unto Joseph (about 10 minutes)

Bread from Heaven
Exodus 16:1–36 · story film
In the wilderness the people complained that they were hungry. God sent quails in the evening and, in the morning, small white bread called manna on the ground. They gathered it every day, and twice as much before the sabbath.
Big idea: God gives us what we need, day by day.
Memory verse:
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
Exodus 16:4 (KJV)Ask: What came in the evening? Quails.

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
